ABOUT US

We are Brandon and Matteo.

 We are fortunate to have grown up to embrace our heritage through the food and wine culture of both our countries,

South Africa & Italy. 

 

We fell in love with The Great British pub culture, and now we are excited for you to enjoy some of Wiltshire's finest

food and drinks.

​

Brandon's grandmother always lays a spare seat at the table for the "weary traveller", she says that one day someone may knock on the door in need of a good meal. We have taken on this tradition, only we have set out an extra 50 odd seats. 

​

During your visit, you are also bound to meet our handsome Bullmastiff, Cairo.

He runs a tight ship and ensures that the fire is always lit.

OUR FOOD

It is our belief that seasonal food is fresher, tastier, and more nutritious. We are passionate about serving the highest quality food to our guests and, working alongside the natural availability of food is the best way to guarantee this. 

We carefully source our ingredients and aim to ensure that our supplier's standards and sustainability

run alongside the ethos of The Duke Hotel.

 It is also important to us to support local farmers and growers to give back to our community.

We are fortunate enough to be surrounded by a wealth of local produce and source only the best.

Our local butcher supplies us with premium cuts from Wiltshire's farms.

Our free-range eggs are laid only a stone's throw away and 

Our fishmonger ensures that our catch of the day is caught sustainably and in the least impactful way on the ocean.   We truly believe that this is the way forward, seasonal, local, and sustainable.

OUR KITCHEN

Food is the soul of our restaurant. 

We are not looking for eccentricity, or looking to land on the moon. Our goal is to cook good food and have our guests wanting more. â€‹

Meals are prepared using the best quality seasonal food, sourced as locally as possible. 

We proudly blend classical gastronomic techniques with

elements of European and Asian cuisines.

  We are also passionate about the “Great” pub classics, and we strive to elevate home comfort food with an intricate and modern kick.

"I have been taught to handle food with humility and to follow the natural beauty and taste of each product. We strive to respect all our ingredients from the moment they arrive in our kitchen, right until they are served to our diners. Our food is predominantly farm-to-table in our effort to ignite an appetite for local produce."

OUR BAR

With a reputation for fine food, drinks, and friendly hospitality,

The Duke Hotel offers a wonderful dining experience with friendly and relaxed service.

Some of our wines and sparkling wines come from local English vineyards, as well as our locally sourced real ale. 

We create our cocktail list and choose our wine according to the food we serve.

 

Grab a sunny spot in the garden and relax with your favourite tipple or kick off your muddy boots and cosy up next to the fire.

"When we approached interest in working in the pub industry; being a free-house was the most important characteristic we were looking for. Being free from brewery ties means we have the freedom to sell whatever drink we believe matches our food and service. Being able to express ourselves into our hosting style is a privilege, not many pub landlords have. 

And so, being a free house means we independently selected all our suppliers. This pub is as unique as we are".
